Description
The catalogue and eighteen years of lending records of a small public library, rebuilt from four drives that had been through a fire.
The catalogue describes about 60,000 books, many of them local history held nowhere else. The lending records were anonymized by the library before deposit.
Provenance
The library burned down in 2016. Its four server drives were recovered from the remains of the server room, blackened and partly melted.
Each platter was cleaned of soot by hand and moved into a donor drive on a clean bench. No single drive could be read in full, but between them the four held enough to rebuild the whole database.
