Buster Friendly and His Friendly Friends: one broadcast day

Friendly Friends Productions, 1992. Broadcast recording for broadcast equipment.

Description

A complete broadcast day of a long-running variety program carried on television and radio at once: forty-six hours of programming from a single day.

The show ran almost around the clock, simultaneously on its television and radio feeds, with a host who rarely seemed to leave the studio. Very little of it was kept.

Provenance

Recovered from transmission tapes found at a regional relay station when it was decommissioned. The station had kept one day’s tapes as a test reference and never erased them.

The television feed is complete. Three of the radio tapes had dropouts, and about forty minutes of radio programming is lost.
